This case concerns the prosecution of the Mexican-American war. The Mexican government has taken the United States to court and has charged that the U.S. government illegally went to war against Mexico and stole its territory in 1846 and 1847 and then forced Mexico to sign the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo to create the state of California.
The Mexican Government claims California was illegally stolen from them and Mexico should be rightfully compensated for the loss of land (the $15,000,000 given to Mexico was simply for war losses).
