Choose a topic that is of interest to you and could be used with students in elementary schools. The topic is food. Anything to do with healthy eating or just a good relationship with food and eating for children.
Identify the grade level for the instruction. This could be two adjoining grades, such as grades 1-2, grades 3-4, or grades 4-5.
Write an introduction to the unit which includes the rationale for choosing the topic and desired instructional objectives of the unit.
Develop an instructional unit with three learning activities based in books.
Refer to pages 245 – 246, (included in uploaded files) Figure 17.2 in the textbook. Create a learning activity in each of the three categories: a Writing Activity, an Arts and Crafts Activity, and a Drama, Music or Other Activity. You may adapt activities listed in these examples or develop your own activities that would fit into the categories.
Include an annotated bibliography of books related to your topic. (Each entry should have a short description of the books content (approximately 50 to 100 words). Include books used in creating your learning activities, but not all of the books listed in the bibliography need to be used in these activities.
