Length–2-4 pages
Format Requirements–MLA format with works cited (What should you cite? Everything that is not your own or originated from another source.), Times New Roman 12 pt font, evenly double-spaced, one-inch margins. Also, submit your papers via Word doc, so I can leave comments on it. You must have at least one (academic/peer-reviewed) source but no more than two sources. You should only have about two small quotes per page to support your ideas. No block quotes are allowed in any of the papers since these papers are too short to support them.
Topic–The topic is to be a current situation happening in the world today. I want this to be your warm-up paper, so choose a topic that interests you and is a current event, and you will have no trouble writing about it. Make sure you have a thesis that’s assertive, arguable, and focused/specific. Therefore, this needs to be somewhat of a persuasive paper. [[[For instance, you can give something that just happened recently and then give your opinion on it or your take on it, so your thesis is arguable and debatable with statistics and information within your paper to support your paper’s position.]]] Choose a topic that’s arguable, a recent occurrence, and able to expand into the length requirements.

I have included one of my previous essays as an attachment below, so that you are able to evaluate my writing level/ability as a writer. This is a technical, yet relatively more casual*, research paper. Please feel free to develop your own thesis statement related to the following idea:
“The United States/world must embrace renewable sources of energy while transitioning away from fossil fuels to prevent climate catastrophe/ecological collapse/et cetera.” Please relate this idea to (a) recent occurrence(s). I am open to other writing topics, if needed.
