Find a school counselor to interview and to discuss current professional practice. As part of the interview, talk about program implementation/evaluation. If possible, complete the IIR or the ASCA Program Evaluation Assessment with the school counselor. Explain the purpose of your visit and the interview to the counselor in advance. Ensure everyone involved understands you are trying to learn more about a comprehensive school counseling program, the role of the school counselor, and how to use program implementation/evaluation instruments. Please utilize the Independent School District (ISD) in Independence, Missouri. Interviewee name is Rebecca Lyle (School Counselor I interviewed).

If the IIR is completed:
You will find it helpful to utilize the Score Summary Sheet and to complete Charts I & II of the IIR to write the data analysis narrative. Briefly summarize your findings, including
the scores in the Program Foundation, System Support, Curriculum, Individual Planning, and Responsive Services.
Use the charts to demonstrate your findings. Make sure that each chart has a legend to make it self-explanatory. In this section, your purpose is to know the results and explain the strengths and areas of needed improvement (backed by the data).

If the ASCA Program Evaluation Assessment is utilized:
Utilize the assessment tool to create notes and assess strengths and needs of the program.
Utilize notes and any additional resources provided by the school counselor in the interview.

Next, reflect on the process and discuss what you have learned about comprehensive school counseling programs and the role of the school counselor by completing the interview and review process. Then, reflect on what you learned from the interview and peer review.

Next, Construct your own S.M.A.R.T. goal utilizing the data and information gained in the interview, through the use of program evaluation tools and in peer review discussion (Include the data utilized. You will not be able to state how the goal was completed at this stage. Instead, explain your rationale for the selection of the goal) to identify and address areas in need of
improvement. Be sure to back your thinking with data. You should be prepared to discuss the reasons for your choices using that data.
