Art History Research Project
1. Topic – Brainstorm some ideas you would like to research. This will be the title of the paper, for instance, “Landscape Paintings in Pompeii”. You will propose at least two different ideas and we will discuss them as a group in class, ultimately selecting the best options. Hyflex/Remote students will be expected to contribute to the discussion. (DISCUSSION 9, DUE NOV 27)
2. Outline/Research – Use At Least 3 Sources in addition to the Pearson textbook – Preferably Books from the Library, Museum Visits – (Philadelphia Museum of Art, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rubin Museum), JSTOR, Khan Academy, Documentary Films. Begin to collect your sources. Take notes from each book and make sure to cite the sources according to the MLA format. Use book Indexes to find relevant information for your topic. As you do the research, take notes. This is called a working outline. This working outline will be another point for discussion. We will compare notes in class and give feedback to each other. (DUE DEC 6th to WORKSHOP and discuss during class)
3. Write the paper – At least 4 pages. Should have a solid Introduction and Conclusion at the first and last paragraphs. The body of the paper should provide several specific examples that support the main idea. Look for interesting works and ideas, Maybe things we did not get to talk about in class. Think like an Art Historian! Maybe you will reimagine some of the past in a new way. (DUE DEC 20, NO LATER)

5. Images – Include Images and Proper Identifications at the end of the paper.
6.
