Javid and Harpreet have booked a 10 day package holiday in Sri Lanka Island Dream Holidays, a local tour-operator registered in England and Wales. They paid 900 each by credit card, for an all-inclusive travel package which included flights (with an upgrade to Premium Economy Class), accommodation in a premier suite with a sea view, an all-inclusive food and drink option, transfers to and from the airport and a free elephant safari.
The brochure that attracted them to book the holiday package specified that this was an all-inclusive package, which included all the above.
Upon arrival at Heathrow they found that Premium Economy seats were not available on their flight and had to travel in the standard Economy class cabin. On arrival at Colombo airport, they were informed at the airport helpdesk that transfers to and from their hotel were no longer covered by their tour operator. After trying to contact the tour operator for two hours an advisor from Island Dream Holidays informed them that their holiday package was amended shortly after their departure because of a fall out with the transfer company in Sri Lanka, which decided that it will no longer operate transfers for Island Dream Holidays. Eventually, the couple had to pay for a taxi to take them to their hotel in Negombo. The cost of the taxi transfer (one way) was 17,000 Sri Lankan Rupees (70). Upon arrival, the hotel informed them that their room had only been booked for one week and they had to pay the hotel for the remaining three nights at a cost of 73,500 Sri Lankan rupees (300)
As if this was not enough, Javid and Harpreet soon realised that even though their package was for a superior double room (ensuite), they were given a standard room, overlooking the gardens, with a shared bathroom, and the elephant safari was not free but cost them an additional 30 (7,350 SLR).
Produce a report, addressing the legal issues arising in this scenario with reference to the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 2018 and other relevant legislation. You should also advise Javid and Harpreet on what professional bodies they can turn to for redress and what legal action they can take if financial redress is not obtained otherwise.

In order to pass Assessment 1 you will need to:

Collate legal principles from various subjects of law and relate to these and explain them in the context of the question proposed.
