This discussion asks you to apply key concepts from Chapter 10 and earlier to analyze an online community you’ve been participating or you are familiar with–examples of communities can be found from the second section of Chapter 10 (i.e., types of online community, ranging from imagined community, subcultures, audience communities, to communities of practices).
Please write a short analysis to answer the following questions:
Describe the online community and provide a link if you can.
Identify its type of community. An imagined community, a subculture, an audience community, or a community of practices?
Review its culture, demographics, internal rules and structures, and/or its history and formation. Please use the concepts from the textbook to guide your review, such as three traits of community (pp. 171-172) and status and roles of community (pp. 176-179). And you might find the rituals that have been formed in the virtual community could be associated with the structuration concept we discussed in the fircixst week.
