Literary Criticism of “Another Way to Die”

NOTE: THIS PAPER IS A LITERARY CRITICISM PAPER

Requirements:
Your paper is to be an effective length to completely sell your thesis. Anything less will be docked a letter grade.

Your paper will follow all basic MLA requirements, including the proper heading.
Your paper will follow all of the requirements found in the assignment. The focus of this paper is not how the piece relates to you or our society. It centers on the story itself and the authors usage of it. If our society fits, that is fine, but it cannot be the focus of the paper. I expect you to find something about the story and prove it as a universal lesson for all man, no matter in what era they live.

Read the short story, Another Way to Die (Canvas) and examine all of the characters and events of the story. Using the many symbolic images found throughout the piece, establish a thesis around the idea that the author wanted to write a story about the loss of innocence in war. You could also write an essay on military duty.

Editing Rubric (this is the grading rubric that was to be used by our peers to grade our 1st draft. I am completing my assignment on an extended deadline and won’t get the chance for a peer edit, so I thought this would be helpful for you to see what they are looking for):

Part I
