This assignment requires you to write a scholarly research paper. See the points below to help you understand the research paper requirements. The paper is to provide an overview of general theoretical trends (concepts, policies, practices) and benchmarks in Early Childhood Education. You do not have to include all early childhood education theories, but pick several to conduct in-depth research for a deeper understanding of the theory.
Remember you previously made some notes on the theoretical trends in the Module 3 Developmental and Learning Theories Quick Reference PowerPoint. This research paper will expand upon your previous work.
Your research paper should also identify and discuss the impact of federal and state laws on education in the classroom (e.g., English for Speakers of Other Languages, Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act, Separation of Church and State, Standardized Testing). Think broadly about the laws portion of the paper. There are an unlimited amount of laws that govern education in the state of Florida. Make sure you compare and/or contrast the federal and state laws with the principles and practices of the theories you selected for inclusion in your research paper if you would like full credit.
