Identify, access, and analyze secondary sources relevant to a topic on British history from 1688 to 1867.

Your paper assignment for this course requires you to identify, access, and analyze secondarysources relevant to a topic on British history from 1688 to 1867. You will choose one of the setsof secondary readings found on the syllabus for a particular lecture as the basis for your topic. These sets of readings have been chosen to provide differing perspectives on a particularhistorical topic. As you know, historians approach their presentation of history in various ways. Some might emphasize political history while others might, for example, emphasize economic, cultural, or intellectual history. Historians also sometimes make use of interpretive frameworksfor their analysis of primary sources. Examples of such frameworks might be Marxist, Freudian, feminist, or postmodern. The emphases and interpretive frameworks of historians are numerousand understanding them is an important part of conducting informed analyses of scholarly works. After you have researched the topic based on your chosen set of sources, you will identify andobtain at least three additional articles or books on the topic selected that are not found on thesyllabus. If you choose to write on one of the five required texts (not the Kent textbook), thenyou must identify four additional sources prior to writing your paper. Once you have researchedand identified the best sources for your paper, you will then analyze and critique their argumentsin a paper of 8-10 pages. If you wish to write on a different topic than might be found among thesets of readings on the syllabus, then you may submit a proposed list of articles for my approval. You should keep within the broad topic as set on the syllabus, e.g. The American War ofIndependence; however, you will narrow your topic to fit your interests and research. So, in thisvein, you might focus on sources that address the war’s impact on women. Try to focus on atopic that interests you most and let this guide your research. If you have problems or questionsidentifying sources, please do not hesitate to contact me.Your paper will be assessed on the basis of the quality of your sources, your analysis and critiqueof their arguments and evidence, and your insight into the major historical arguments.Footnotes and bibliography in Chicago Style format, double spacing, and 12-point font required
