Literature review: Diversity and leadership question
In a previous course, LEAD 701, you studied the literature process and compared the literature review sections of several published studies. Now you will build on your understanding to compose a literature review of your own.
Select a specific research problem within a diversity and leadership issue. Next, identify a research question that would help you understand the problem and move toward an evidence-based solution. You will conduct an in-depth search for related studies and compose a detailed literature review that addresses the question and lays a foundation for a potential new study. You will demonstrate ability to approach a challenging contemporary issue through scholarly examination and synthesis of existing research.
Please note that the text below, which you used in LEAD 701, will be helpful for this assignment.
Machi, L.A., & McEvoy, B.T. (2012). The literature review: Six steps to success. Thousand Oaks, CA: Corwin Press.
The following instructions will serve as the assignment rubric.
Describe a real leadership situation that includes a diversity need or conflict. De-identify and/or disguise any specific organizational information to avoid confidentiality problems. Include clear details that adequately explain the problem. (3 points)
Identify a research question that would help you understand the problem and move you toward an-evidence based solution. Be sure the question falls within the areas of leadership and diversity. (3 points)
Compose a rationale statement to support the importance of your question. Why does your question matter in the real world, and why does it matter in comparison to existing studies? (3 points)
Using a library database, gather scholarly articles that support the need to answer your question and build a body of knowledge surrounding the question. Your collection must include at least eight research reports published in peer-reviewed academic journals within the last five years. (3 points)
Identify relevant concepts with subheadings and present a coherent statement about what is known and what needs to be known for each concept. (3 points)
Synthesize the cited studies to a single conceptual statement or a logical series of conceptual statements regarding extant and needed research related to your research question. (3 points)
Limit your review to 4- to 6-pages and format according to APA guidelines. (2 points)
Research question: What is the implication of cultural competence for nurse leaders as it applies to their predominant organizational structure to foster operational efficiency by focusing on quality healthcare services for patients and promoting positive outcomes within the community that is characterized by different races? (The instructor said the question was a little long, so it could probably afford to be revised.
Attached is the rubric for the requirements.
