Conflict Theory: From a conflict theory perspective, sexuality is another area in which power differentials are present and where dominant groups actively work to promote their views/statuses to protect their social and economic interests. Choose a topic we have discussed in this class pertaining to sexual patterns, scripts, expectations, or control. (Some examples include heterocentrism, heterosexism, CisHet narrative, deviant sexual behavior, sexual violence or abuse, intersections of sexuality and gender, discrimination, hate crimes, etc.). Within the topic you have chosen, what are some outcomes of inequality among members (groups) of society? Identify groups who are benefiting and groups who are exploited by this social pattern or phenomena pertaining to sexuality. How have the benefitting groups attempted to protect their status? How does this affect groups who do not benefit from (or are exploited from) the inequality?
What solutions can be offered toward equity or a healthier more sustainable social outcome? Who are the major participants in the possible solutions in dismasting systems of oppression or exploitation pertaining to your topic on sexuality?
You will need to conduct research with at least 7-10 scholarly sociological resources (e.g., books, sociological journals, videos/documentaries, interviews, etc.) to demonstrate your ability to think sociologically about sexuality.
Your slide presentation should include images, videos, charts and graphs where applicable.
