Explain how the conclusion follows from the premises.

The essay is expected to have around 2000 words. ~ 250 words should be devoted to the Introduction, where the central claims are stated, as well as the plan for the whole essay. ~ 750 words should be devoted to the presentation of the argument in question. ~ 750 should be devoted to your own argumentation. ~ 250 should be devoted to a conclusion that summarizes how the main thesis of the essay (stated in the introduction) has been supported by the essays argument.

Fundamentally you are required to do two things. First, identify the view the argument is attacking or defending, and explain that view to a reasonable extent (include motivations, make sure to capture the scope of the view or claim attacked or defended, show understanding of the view).
Second, identify the structure of the argument; its premises and conclusions. Clarify any confusions that there might be about this, and which statement follows from which statement. Present the argument in the strongest and most charitable version you can articulate. You are only as strong as the opponent that you chose to fight; so you better make the best of your opponent. If possible, include a defense of the premises of the argument. Explain how the conclusion follows from the premises.
