There are two parts to this project: 1) is the actual Brochure and 2) the script that you’ll submit as well. The script will not only serve to introduce your topic and identify the target population (how target audience is catered to), it will be a verbatim account of how you would present the brochure to the patient.
Example:
Topic: Type 1 Diabetes
Target Audience: 5-10 year old children
Target Audience Need Met via animated illustrations of content appropriate for age level interest and understanding.
Script:
Hi My name is Emily. I’m a Nurse here and I wanted to go over this brochure with you for a few minutes. It shouldn’t take longer than about 5 minutes.
I know that you were recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and I’m sure you have a lot of questions about it; I’m hoping this flyer here will help with that. Feel free to jump in and ask me anything as I’m going along too!
When we start out at the top, you’ll see this picture of this little boy, and right here is his pancreas….
Your script should go through and cover all elements of your brochure, as per the Rubric. Please refer to your Rubric for your brochure as well, paying close attention to not only the informational content expectation but the visual presentation, that your target audience accommodation is evident and that it is in lay terms.
