Foster Reading writing: Assignment

Part 1 of the assignment: for your class (1st graders) create a slide show (5 slide min.) that demonstrates how to write a good introduction or conclusion. Include any resources you would use in your slide show, such as a text, or poster that you have created. For your slide show, make sure you indicate ways in which your students can create an awesome introduction or conclusion (using quotes, making a thesis statement, using a thought-provoking question etc.). Be sure to include examples of great introductions or conclusions, in order to ensure your students’ understanding of how to implement the introduction or conclusion technique you are teaching the students. Part 2 of the assignment: Choose 1 writing checklist or rubric that you feel would be beneficial to the students in your class or create your own. Include the rubric/checklist you chose or created in your assignment, along with a paragraph that explains what writing topic you would use the rubric/checklist with, and why and how you think it will help your students more efficiently edit and revise their written work. (1 page ( rubric and paragraph)

Part 3 of the assignment: Throughout the class, you learned about a variety of reading and writing strategies to utilize when teaching students with learning disabilities. Describe1 writing strategy that you learned, that you feel will be especially helpful when teaching either your class or a specific student in your class. Be sure to describe the strategy and explain why you feel this strategy is especially beneficial to students with reading and writing disabilities. (The essay should be about 1 page.)

Part 4 of the assignment: Throughout the course, you utilized the graphic organizer provided in the course introduction to jot down resources, strategies, activities, readings, and lessons that promote a critically conscious classroom while meeting the needs of your students with reading and writing disabilities. Discuss how you are ensuring that your lessons, materials, activities, and questions/discussions promote a critically conscious classroom. (This paper should be approximately 1 page in length)
