Are the authors conservative or liberal and how do their political affiliations and biases present themselves in their writing?

Carefully read the two articles below and then tap into the vast array of information you have absorbed this semester to write a 5-page essay in which you compare & contrast the ways in which the authors of the two articles utilize rhetoric and manipulate language in order to support the arguments of their respective essays. How do the authors of these two articles use ethos, logos, pathos, to manipulate an audience? What types of claims do they rely on to deliver their arguments and are the counterarguments they use to further their own claims effective?

As you read the two articles below, make sure to take the time to annotate the texts and take notes on your analyses. Ask yourself, how are the sources of the two articles different? Are the authors conservative or liberal and how do their political affiliations and biases present themselves in their writing? What kind of images do the articles employ to manipulate the readers? How do the authors employ rhetoric to manipulate the reader and how effective are these strategies in swaying their respective audiences?

*NOTE* The FINAL EXAM Essay should reflect all the rhetorical tools and strategies you have learned during the semester. Your essay should focus on the ways in which the two authors rely on ethos, logos, pathos, the use of counterargument, and the 5 main types of claims to uphold the validity of their respective claims. Your essay should present a thesis statement that focuses on the ways in which these two authors employ the various elements of rhetoric to support their respective claims, and which author is a stronger, more effective author and WHY. You must choose a side and prove that one authors use of rhetoric is better than the others.
