How do we maintain our relationships? What are the actions we take for relationship maintenance? How do we decide whether we wish to maintain the relationship?

I expect these answers to be thorough and complete, and you should expect to write 2-3 pages per question.

The questions will be looking for you to explain the concepts and also apply them to an example. Half the grade is for the concept discussion and the other half for the examples you use. The example can be from real-life, fiction, or ones you make up.

Question 1: How do we maintain our relationships? What are the actions we take for relationship maintenance? How do we decide whether we wish to maintain the relationship? Finally, how is maintenance difference between romantic and non-romantic relationships. After you explain the concepts, give an example of a relationship in which both partners are working to maintain the relationship. How specifically are they working to maintain and why are these efforts successful?

Question 2: What are the strategies a couple may use to settle conflict in their relationship? Which strategies are healthy and which are unhealthy? What can a couple do to maintain healthy conflict? Provide an example of a couple engaging in conflict. This can be healthy or unhealthy. Show the steps the couple goes through and then discuss why this is a healthy or unhealthy approach to conflict.

Question 3: Identify at three specific relationship transgressions that cause harm to a relationship. Explain what they are and how they are harmful. Afterwards, discuss the ways in which a couple moves past those transgressions. What are specific strategies that the couple might employ to repair the relationship? Give an example of one of these transgressions in a relationship, the damage it does, and how the couple moves past it and heals.

Question 4: What are three specific reasons a long-term relationship would come to an end? What are three specific strategies that might be used in order to end this relationship, Make sure you discuss the strategy in detail. Finally, provide an example of a couple whose relationship is ending and describe how the relationship ends. Tell the story and explain what is happening, including the specific steps and strategies that the couple is experiencing.
