3) To utilize the American Psychological Abstract (APA) format in writing of a research paper.

Research Critique Guidelines:

Describe the problem statement or the purpose of the study. The problem statement is a clear statement that describes the phenomena that is being studied.

2. Describe the methodology of the study. The methodology is the design of the study. How is the study conducted? For this assignment you must choose a quantitative interventional nursing study that has been published within the last five years and involves the adult medical-surgical patient population. Make sure you are using original research and not an abstract.

3. Describe the research design. This refers to the plan of the study. The components of the research design include the setting, the sample, the procedure and the method of interpretation.

4. Critique the strengths and weaknesses of the research study and describe how it can be utilized in evidence based nursing practice.
