Decide on a grade level. Choose 2 texts that you would read aloud to students. Explain how each text supports your classroom program. For each text (2 texts total): Select 2 words for vocabulary instruction (4 words total).
Treat each word separately for this assignment and do the following:
Explain why it is important for students to know the word
Indicate the type of Word Learning Task (from the text) each word involves
Describe one activity (from the text) that will support word learning. Four different activities must be used.
Using the same words from the above list, select one of those words. Plan for how you would change/modify your activity from above to teach that one word to EACH of the following special populations: gifted students, students with disabilities, students without rich language experiences, and English language learners. There should be a separate modification for each group.
Indicate one grade level: Pre-K or K or Gr. 1 or Gr. 2
Name 2 read aloud texts for the grade level. These texts should be different than the texts used in your Week 3 SAR
For each text explain how it supports your classroom program (i.e., does it follow specific words or patterns? What ones?; does it support your social studies or science curriculum? What specific concept?)
Select 2 words from each text for vocabulary instruction. Each word should be treated separately for all components of the lesson.
For each word, explain why it is important for students to know the word
Using the course text, indicate the type of Word Learning Task each word involves
Describe one activity (from the text) that will support word learning. Four different activities must be used
Then select ONE of the four words from above. Using that one word demonstrate how you would change/modify the activity and or word for EACH of the following sub-groups (each of them needs something different)
