The sole written assignment is the completion of a 5000 word paper, similar to a World Politics review essay, analyzing and evaluating the book, “War and Chance: Assessing Uncertainty in International Politics” by Jeffrey A. Friedman and relating it to “Tragedy of Great Power Politics”, another book by John Mearsheimer. (1800-2200 words approximately)

First part of the paper – what the book (war and chance Jeffrey A. Friedman) is about, summarize this book? Focus on (how he explains uncertainty and rationality). Bring few important quotations from the book to support this essay and cite them. (1500-2000 words )

Second part – explain how Friedman’s work relates to John Mearsheimer’s view on uncertainty and rationality? defined in his book: The Tragedy of Great Power Politics (500-800 words )

Third part – How would you extend? Do you believe Jeffrey helps you figure out something else that is not yet covered by his analysis? or would you build on his work as a form of criticism?

You could also Offer concluding insights, which could include predictions, recommendations, or reflections on the future of the topic in world politics. As long as its 5000 words, the word counts don’t have to be the same as I have mentioned above, but only keep I mind that the first half of the paper discusses the book by Jeffrey, less than the second half of the paper discusses how it relates to Mearsheimer, and 2 double sapced pages on your insights or extensions.
