INVESTIGATIVE REPORT ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW
The purpose of this assignment is to help you become familiar with common resources available
to research and apply for grants. As future grant writers it is essential to know where to find the
most current information regarding grant rules and regulations. Finding potential funders can be
more challenging to the proposal writing process. Learning where to go for information will be
valuable throughout your career.
INSTRUCTIONS
You will investigate and report about Grants.gov ( https://www.grants.gov/ ) and The Foundation
Center by Candid ( https://foundationcenter.org/ ). These are two resources designed to assist
organizations in acquiring grant dollars. For each, you will provide answers to the following
questions:
1. What is it?
2. Where does one find it?
3. Why does it exist?
4. Who authorized or sponsored it?
5. How does one access the data from it?
6. How do the two databases compare?
The assignment should be written as an Investigative Report (i.e., in the first person) recanting
the methodology utilized to answer the questions and providing your opinion about the resource.
The report needs to be 3 pages in length and professionally written. You may use APA or
