Homophobia
There are many examples of homophobic behavior in modern society, ranging from discriminatory legislation to overt hate crimes. For this activity, analyze the causes and effects of homophobic behavior through the lens of either symbolic interactionist or functionalist or conflict theorist. Consider how the perspective views the role of society and the individual in determining and responding to gender and sexuality norms and perceived deviance.
Analyze an example of homophobia using the one perspective (symbolic interactionist or functionalist or conflict theorist) and appropriate terminology from the text.
(#1) describe your example of homophobia.
(#2) describe the central concepts of the selected sociological perspective.
(#3) describe how the sociological perspective views the role of society and the individual in determining and responding to gender and sexuality norms and perceived deviance.
