Write that the low grades were due to the difficulty of adjusting to the university (UC), and that I have taken steps to improve for next semester. However, feel free to write anything that you think would help the appeal letter.
Ive heard successful appeals often talk about why they wanted to study that field and what their future goals were. I also have attached the admission essay that I wrote for this University.
