Write and submit a composition based on the lessons for writing an argument in the textbook.

Once your topic has been approved, you must find a minimum of 8 additional articles about the topic that you have chosen. Your articles must be from reputable sources like the ones discussed in the text and all sources must have an author. You can use articles from your textbook as well. Again, save the articles you find. After you have read each article, you will create an annotated bibliography. An annotated bibliography is formatted exactly like an MLA formatted Works Cited page, but it includes summaries of each article. You can find an example and instructions for MLA formatting in your textbook. For additional explanations and examples, go to the following website: MLA Formatting Click on the two links: MLA Overview and MLA Formatting and Style Guide. You will be responsible for knowing and applying this information.

At the same time, begin looking at how you will organize the ideas and information you have to present. Prepare an outline that shows how your paper will present the information. The outline should present the major sections of your paper and also the details within each major section. Development of thesis and preparation of an outline are interrelated tasks: Thinking about your thesis statement forces you to consider the main idea you will develop in your paper, and organizing the information helps you to think specifically about how you will develop the main idea. If you develop a good, preliminary thesis statement and outline, your paper will almost write itself.

The assignment you submit should include:

1. Your draft thesis statement

2. Your detailed research paper outline with specific information (either directly quoted or paraphrased) from at least 8-10 sources from your annotated bibliography.
