Do not plagiarize; that is, do not use the same words as the readings. Put things in your own words. Describe and explain, and discuss. The mark of a good essay is one that (a) synthesizes from various quality sources, and (b) mixes that information with the author’s own thoughts an analysis. Show you understand the material. Do not use first person (no “I think,” “I feel,” or “Its is my opinion that…”) but rather state what you believe is true without saying “I” or “we.” For example, instead of saying “I think Native history is fun” just wricixte “Native history is fun.”
