Most dogs in animal shelters are often strays that have been neglected by past owners and now are now in need of a new owner. They are also considerably cheaper than dogs from breeding facilities. On the other hand, dogs from breeders are usually much more expensive, depending on the breed. Also, Breeding negatively impacts the animals involved because they are forced to reproduce, which exhausts them.
