Find one scholarly article related to any sociolinguistic topic which we have discussed in class and write a short paper summarizing and examining it in the context of our class discussions. Include in your summary a descriiption and explanation of the article’s premise, hypotheses, methods, results, and conclusions. Then examine how the article fits into your current understanding of sociolinguistics. In what ways is it related to what we discussed in class? How does it support, alter, or refute the theories and ideas you’ve learned about so far? What about your experience motivated you to choose this article? Do you agree with the article’s findings? Do you think there were any flaws in the article’s approach or methodology? This is not a list of questions you must answer, but a list of suggestions to get you started. Your paper should be 500 – 1000 words, use APA (no abstract required) or MLA style, include appropriate references and citations, and be written to the grammatical standards of Academic English. You may structure your work however you wish, but it must be coherently organized. For this assignment, you must also include the article itself (as a PDF or similar format) or a link if the article is accessible online only. If you cannot easily submit a second file in addition to your paper (it’s been a while since I submitted anything on Canvas), you should be able to attach a file to comment on your submission. Do that to attach the PDF of your article so I can review it. The article must come from a scholarly source, like an academic journal or academic publishing body. If your article does not come from a scholarly source, your work will be subject to an immediate full letter grade reduction. ((((( All Slides/ Topics are attached)))))
