Write a Rhetorical Analysis of one of the provided articles – writer can choose one.Choose one of the essays I have uploaded, (Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris, What Sacagawea Means to Me by Sherman Alexis, Black Men and Public Space by Brent Staples, or Cultural Baggage by Barbara Ehrenreich).
Then, read and deconstruct the work. Tear it apart and find out what rhetorical elements the author used to write the essay.
Next, write a rhetorical analysis essay that evaluates (effective, ineffective, or both effective and ineffective) the authors use of rhetorical elements, and thus the work as a whole. Your evaluation is the stand/argument that you will take about the quality of the rhetorical elements within the writing, and thus the whole work.
Elements of a rhetorical argument include but are not limited to the authors subject, thesis statement, minor or counterclaims, the authors purpose, the authors target audience, the authors tone of voice, the use of pathos, logos, and/or ethos, the language and/or word choice, figurative language, and so on.
