Write a reading response to Adrienne Kennedy’s play, Funnyhouse of a Negro. Citations/sources are not required. This is the prompt of the assignment: Responses provide a solid resource for class discussion and future study. Students are to post a response, 300 words at minimum, substantively engaging the arguments, themes, and practices of course assignments in the Discussion section of the course’s Brightspace page. A formal writing exercise, the response should very briefly summarize the reading in relationship to course themes before providing pointed analysis. Quotes are expected and excluded from the word count. This class is about Black Women Playwrights and how they use their voice as a practice for freedom and write inspiring plays that highlight their struggles and journeys. While writing a response for this play also tie this into the response in terms of Adrienne Keneddy, her play and characters.
