FIRST STUDENT POST:
I work in a large organization; tools commonly used to measure performance include Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), metrics report, and budget variance report. On a monthly basis, business units report on their KPIs status-exceed or below the pre-established targets, budget variances-over or under spent than the monthly allocation, and metrics-overall performance within or outside the acceptable range. Business units must answer the Three Questions discussed by Niven (2008): What happened? Why did it happen? What are we going to do about it? Financial staff will then incorporate these report data and issue the final report to the board, management, budget staff, and the public every month.

For personal goals, I would set target start and completion dates for each of them. For long-term goals, I would also establish major milestone to check progress. When setting goals, I try to quantify them as applicable. For example, I will start reading a book by May 1, 2022, and finish reading three books by June 30, 2022. If I miss the start or end date or if I only read two books (instead of three), then I fall short of my goal. How often I should measure my performance depends on the nature of the goal; some may require more frequent measurement, such as daily, while others may require quarterly. The key is to review and measure performance regularly and to find ways to meet or, better yet, exceed my goals.

SECOND STUDENT POST:
I used to measure performance in my personal life by the goals I achieved. I realized life is messy and unpredictable. I no longer measure my performance by what I accomplish, but from what I learn from it. If I am not successful with a goal then, there are lessons I can learn from it. I will do better next time. The tasks that I am successful with, I also take notes from it to see what worked and what did not.
The organization measures the results often. They broadcast the results during our monthly meetings. The people who broadcast this information are called QC supervisors. The administration start off the meeting by stating the error rates in percentage. The QC supervisors will also tell us the common errors and how to avoid them. The organization also measures success by customer satisfaction Out organizations mission is to enrich lives through effective and caring services. The organization will tell the workers weather we received any positive surveys or reviews from our clients and will mention the workers name. This is effective because the administration acknowledge the workers efforts.
