Write a paper on an artist of your choice (should be pre approved by me). The paper should be at least 4 pages of text plus at least 2 images. Images should not count towards the 4 pages. Use Times New Roman size 12 font, double spaced.
Your paper should be well researched, contain a thesis, be well organized, and use MLA in text citations and a works cited page at the end of the paper. You will be graded on grammar/writing, proper use of MLA format, organization, research, terminology, analyses and overall effort.
Any instances of plagiarism will result in a grade of zero for the paper. Please make sure to fully cite all your sources.
You must use at least three scholarly sources. This should not include Wikipedia, the class textbook, etc. Though you are welcome to use these as sources and cite them you should have three sources that are from in depth research.
The layout of your paper should be organized in the following paragraphs:
Introduction – Includes a thesis
Life/history/biography – Discuss when your artist was born/lived and how this influenced their work. Analyze any personal events/relationships that informed their work.
Overall artwork – What are some themes that emerge in your artists work? Please include terminology you have learned throughout the semester. You might want to discuss materials/form and how this informs themes and concepts.
Pick two pieces of artwork to analyze and discuss – This paragraph should analyze two pieces in depth.
Conclusion – Relate back to your thesis
Use the pieces When “Frustration Threatens Desire” and “School of Beauty, School of Culture” for the analysis
