Write a paper, double-spaced, typed, approximately seven pages with proper in-text
citations and a properly cited bibliography. The purpose of this paper is to engage in a
thoughtful analytical discussion of the readings and material we have explored so far in
class. You are welcome to refer to our guest speaker, the films as well as our class discussions,
however the paper should be primarily based on the readings. You are not required to utilize
any other readings beyond those assigned for this course; however, you are required to
reference at least one concept you have learned in another course, highlighting what that
concept is, how you find it applicable to your discussion, and in what class you learned it
(this is a requirement of an IE class). Remember to provide proper citations when it is
warranted by the presentation of the material. Be sure to read the readings assigned for March 1
before writing the paper.
Describe in detail the relationship between Environmental and Public Policy Dispute Resolution
and public participation in democratic decision-making. Explore the different EPPDR
philosophies, frameworks, and strategies that you have read about or seen demonstrated which
illustrate this relationship. Be sure to consider the perspectives of the different sources (scholarly
publications, guest speaker, films, etc.) Provide your own critical analysis and consider which
you find particularly innovative, useful, or problematic and explain why. For this paper, be sure
to spend significant time engaging with the readings and providing an analysis. You can add
your own views in addition but be careful not to make the paper into just an essay on your
opinion.
The paper should be primarily based on the readings.
You are required to reference at least one concept you have learned in another
course. Be sure to highlight what that concept is, how you find it applicable to your
discussion, and in what class you learned it.

Below is part of the requirement for the paper talking about what course I learned from the concept that I find applicable to EPPR.

Legal 397CR – Conflict Resolution/Trial Court
The course will also focus on the equitable jurisdiction of the courts as well as an introduction into real property rights including the right, or lack thereof, to access beachfront property. The course will also cover the resolution of civil claims through the jury trial process. The concept this class is applicable to EPPDR with dealing with resolution of civil claims through the trial courts. This course deals with issues that are unique to each of the respective trial courts. It uses case studies that address the way disputes are resolved by trial or settlement.
