Assignment Two: Windshield Survey

A windshield survey serves as an assessment of the community. You will explore, observe, and collect information which can affect the health of people within the selected community. A correlation between the community (living conditions) and an individuals health has been established through studies and evidence-based research. For this assignment, you will use the resources available on the course site. Use the Windshield Survey Guidelines and the Elements to Observe list to complete the Windshield Survey Assignment. Make sure you take notes as you complete the windshield survey.

In this assignment, you will complete the following criteria:

1. Summarize your findings related to the Windshield Survey Elements to observe and the Windshield Survey Guidelines (found in the course resources and on Table 12.3, page 213 in your text)
2. Identify at least two community health issues or problems you feel are significant to a vulnerable population and worthy of further inquiry based on what you observed. One of these will be the focus of your Practice Experience assignments. What is the relationship between the health issues and legal, moral, ethical and safety standards? What are some of the issues associated with patient-centered care concepts?
3. Defend your choice of health issues referencing descriptive data from your survey and citation of credible sources.
4. Discuss the benefits of conducting a windshield or walking survey to identify and evaluate emerging or ongoing health issues. How do windshield surveys help promote health within the community?

The paper must adhere to the following criteria:
The cover page must include the following:
Title of the paper
The students name.
Course number and name
Instructors name
Date submitted.
The assignment must have a minimum of three references.
All references must be cited within the text and all in-text citations must have a reference.
The paper must be written in APA format using 7th edition.
The paper must have an introduction and a conclusion.
The paper must have a separate references page formatted in APA style.
The paper must be a minimum of four double-spaced pages, which does not include the cover and reference pages.
