Podcast Plan Assignment
Directions: First research a topic that you would like to explore for your podcast. Then answer the following questions in short answer form using complete sentences and proper grammar:
1. What is the topic of your Podcast? Provide a description of your project and the fear you plan to explore. If you have a title, you can provide it here.
2. What is the premise behind your Podcast? Discuss the driving ideas/questions behind your podcast topic.
3. How will you engage and hold your audience throughout the Podcast? Provide examples of what you plan to include in your Podcast.
4. What research do you plan to include in your Podcast? Provide a quick brainstorm of what you might research?
5. What will the audience remember after they finish your Podcast?
Learning about Podcasts Exploration Activity
Direction: Today you will learn about how a Podcast is formatted and what a Podcast sounds like. Here are the segments that you will learn about and the segments that will be in your own Podcast.
Segment #1: Background Segment (Introduction)- A background segment is where you introduce your topic. For us, our topic will be the fear you are exploring. In this segment, you will provide context about the topic and include information from your research. (1-2 minutes)
Segment #2: Interview Segment (Middle)- In an interview segment, you will get the perspective from an outside voice. You will record an interview with an individual with questions that are centered on your prompt. (1-2 minutes)
Segment #3: Perspective Segment (Conclusion)- In this part of the podcast, you will present your perspective of the topic. This can be done through the use of research, personal stories/anecdotes, presenting studies, or bringing in more perspectives from different individuals. The goal is to answer the question– is it possible to overcome fears? Get creative… the opportunities are endless for this portion of the segment!
Before creating your own segments, review a few Podcast sample segments to see and hear what each segment style might look like. Complete the graphic organizer in the text.
