What technology are they using as far as accounting?

You should cover a brief background of the company, what they are known for, what are their strengths. In conclusion you should be able to decide whether or not you should work for the company and whether or not to invest in the company with solid reasoning to support your decision. Please use the attached rubric to be sure that you are meeting or exceeding the expectations.

1. How is accounting used in this industry? Are there obstacles that need to be overcome? What are strengths and weaknesses of the accounting approaches used? What does your selected company do?
2. Identify industry standards for accounting in your field. What types of costing systems do they use? What type of inventory systems do they use if they have inventory, etc.?
3. What technology are they using as far as accounting? Do they have an ERP system? Do they work virtually? Do they track inventory using tracking RFID chips?
4. Does your identified company have inventory or are they a service company? Identify if the company uses LIFO, FIFO, etc. Is there anything specific or unique about their inventory? Do they have inventory at risk of becoming obsolete like a technology firm? If they are a service company how do they track costs?
5. Conduct a ratio analysis of your chosen company. Be sure to hit the big ratios: 1) Liquidity 2) Solvency 3) Profit 4) Risk and any other ratio that may be important in your industry.
6. What decision making opportunities can be identified from accounting data? Do you see any blind spots in your company? What about the industry as a whole?
7. Does the company use process costing, job costing, specific identification or its own method of costing? What is the industry standard for costing?
8. How does the company use CVP analysis to make decisions? Can you give an example of how you would use CVP to make a decision if you were managing the company?
9. Answer the questions: Would you go to work for this company? Would you invest in this company.
