They are also arguably the most popular and influential part of popular culture. Accordingly, reviews can entertainingly show us that fresh sociological insights can be gleaned even from one of the most taken-for-granted elements of our everyday world.
Select a Movie and Watch from a Sociological Perspective.
Your assignment is to analyze a movie through a sociological perspective, specifically looking at one of the 10 social institutions (Annex A) we studied in class. You can incorporate other concepts (culture) to compliment your social institution analysis . You may choose a movie you have already seen, but must re-watch it to focus on its sociological relevance.
Specifically, your sociological argument should answer the following questions:
What social institution is significant in the movie? Describe the components.
What sociological theories support (or contradict) the representation of the social institution?
How does the movie reflect its social context? (i.e. use your sociological imagination).
Note: The paper should 1400 words double-spaced pages using 12-point font. Your review should be grammatically correct with proper spelling and punctuation. Include transitions between your paragraphs and different ideas to create a seamless flow and cohesion of thoughts through your paper.
