In other words, what research exists relevant to this topic? Who are the groups that are most likely to experience this form of social inequality according to the research? What social, cultural and historical factors may have contributed to this form of social inequality or injustice? What seems to be the general consensus on the topic? What are the opposing positions on this topic? This section of your proposal should be at least two paragraphs.

Theoretical Framework:

We have examined a number of sociological theories including conflict theory, structural functional theory, symbolic interaction, feminist theory, queer theory and others. However, there are many other theories used to frame an understanding of a particular social issue. Select a theory that you want to apply to the understanding of the issue presented in your paper. Explain how the basic premise and concepts associated with the theory relate to a sociological understanding of the topic. This section of your proposal should be at least one paragraph.

Case Study:

Provide a brief summary on one real life case that is relevant to your topic. For example, if your proposal is on police brutality, you can provide information from an actual case that you locate on line, that tells the story of someone who experienced this problem. What was their story? How did they address the issue? What was the outcome from the victim or their family on their behalf?

Policy:

Social problems cannot fully be addressed in society without the involvement of policy makers. Briefly state a policy or law that addresses the social issue that you plan to discuss in your paper. For example, there have been laws passed to address discrimination in the workplace, educational reform, provisions of health care etc.

List of Potential References:

Provide at least six references that you have reviewed as a part of your literature review thus far. Use the CCBC library to locate at least three professional journal articles to be included in your reference list. Your remaining sources can be the textbook and other reputable sources.
