Essay Instructions: The first reaction Paper deals with Joseph Ellis, American Dialogue: The Founders and US and will be 3-5 pages in length. The questions I want you to keep in mind and work on in the paper are:
Ellis attempts to show how the Founders were as beset by political turmoil and controversy as we are today; with this in mind answer the following questions in your paper; you can choose one of the chapters in your answer, or multiple chapters. Be sure to use quotes from the book to support you answers, and to cite those sources using the Chicago Manual of Style:
What political and social issues confronted the Founders, and what methods did they use to try to solve them?
Were the Founders successful in addressing these issues; if not, why not; if they were, how did they succeed?
Did the success or failure of the Founders to address these issues have repercussions for the future of the United States?
In today’s political climate, can we learn lessons from the Founders in addressing the issues that confront us today?
The book you would use for citations is “George Brown Tindall, & David E Shi, America A Narrative History [Tenth Edition] [Vol. 1] [W. W. Norton & Company, 2012] [Paperback] Eleventh (11th) Brief Edition, ISBN: 978-0393668964”
For styling and intext citations the essay needs to be written in Chicago style format. I attached the rubric for writing an essay for this specific class in a file below.
Also, for sources just put in the amount that makes the paper flow and feel harmonious. Obviously more then three but you don’t need to go crazy with 10+ sources.
