ASSIGNMENT: Students will write a brief paper on the two artist spotlighted in this module: Kcho and Ramona Sakiestewa. This paper should answer the follow questions in paragraph form about each artist:
What did you learn about the artists background?
How would you describe each artists work?
What subject and/or themes do you see in most of the artists work?
What messages do you think the artist is communicating about his/her culture?
How does the art artist use different materials to express themselves?
What colors, lines, shapes, and textures can be seen in the artists work?
Would the art be different if you saw it in person?
Your paper should also include ways you as a teacher could use information about artists to increase the childrens exposure to cultural diversity and different aesthetic experiences.
