What kind of war was being waged in Korea?

PROMPT: Hello everyone! I will tell you now that this will be a nontraditional Discussion Board, so please just follow my guidelines. Also, if you haven’t noticed this about me so far in this class, I want you to actually LEARN in this class and not just regurgitate facts!

BEFORE you watch the video, I want you to write one paragraph on everything you knew/know about the Korean War BEFORE you watch the video. I do not want you to use the Google machine and throw out some info to make your first paragraph look better. I understand there may be a few of you who are thinking: “I know absolutely nothing about the Korean War!” In reality, I believe if you think it over and rack your brain you WILL have some knowledge about the Korean War. Simply label the section: What I know about the Korean War before the video, in bold.

After watching the video, please answer these questions in paragraph form:

-What kind of war was being waged in Korea? Can you link this to any other wars?

-What were a few of the most shocking things you saw in the video regarding the Korean War and how it was fought? Listing 3 good ones, with some explanation would satisfy me.

-What kind of connections can you make with the past and more importantly the present, regarding US military actions in Asia, after watching this video?

-Do you think that America should have been involved in the Korean War?

-Hopefully you tune in with the news these days (not the fake stuff) and as you know the idea of America and North Korea going to war again is mentioned daily. What are your thoughts on that?
