this is a quantitative research paper. data is used from DHS to find the causality between women empowerment and fertility preferences in India.
I am creating a women empowerment index using PCA which has three categories: family (age of respondent at first birth, ), decision making (decision maker for contraceptives, who decides visits to family or relatives, who decides on respondents health care), economic (does respondent own land or a house, has the respondent worked in the last 12 months) and sociocultural (frequency of listening to radio, frequency of reading newspaper or magazine). The dependent variable is the total number of births and ideal number of children a woman would want to have.
