Most living cells, especially animal cells, use glucose as the main source of energy. Our diet often includes proteins, carbohydrates, and lipids and each is broken down through metabolism to give us the energy we need. How do our bodies utilize these macromolecules? Using the information in Chapter 6 as a guide (talked about cellular respiration and the metabolic pathways such as glycolysis, krebs cycle, and ETC), discuss the following:
What is a food that you consider to be your energy boost?
What is the molecular content of this food, and how does this food contribute to your body and your energy?
Assessment Guidelines
Research reliable and credible internet resources to learn more about the specific macromolecule composition of that specific food as well as its energy content.
Address the discussion prompts in your initial post; it should be in the range of 400 – 500 words. Your discussion must be supported by at least two additional reliable and credible resources in addition to the information presented in class and the required readings.
It is a requirement to use two additional reliable and credible sources (one must be a primary source and the other can be a primary or secondary source; linked below) in your initial post in conjunction with what is presented in the class, the Module 9 Discussion directions, and required readings. All information used from sources must be cited per APA UNE Library APA Style Guide linked (https://library.une.edu/research-help/help-with-citations/apa-style/).
