5 page paper that examines a theory or concept that can help drive inclusion forward in the classroom. This theory could be one of the many theories that was discussed in our course learning modules but you are also free to pick a concept or theory that was not discussed in this course as long as you can demonstrate that it can help drive inclusion forward inside the classroom.
In your discussion of the theory, you should cover the following:
Why you choose to discuss this theory?
How might this theory help to create more inclusion and academic achievement for African American students and other minoritized students?
How can you apply this theory into the teaching and learning that happens in your classroom?
This paper should also include a discussion about equity in education. You can use the following questions to guide your discussion:
What is your working definition of equity?
What does equity look like in your classroom or discipline?
Why might educational equity be important in order to help narrow the opportunity gap for African American students?
How can you help encourage your colleagues to be equity-minded education professionals?
Specific Requirements for Part II of Final Project:
