What do social workers do in the agency or organization? How do they determine that what they do is effective?

Completion of a professionally written (5-7 pages) program evaluation paper (using the current APA writing style). Students will concentrate on a particular department at Limestone College or a department in a local social service agency approved by the instructor and evaluates its overall effectiveness. The paper should include a discussion of mission /vision, funding sources, organizational structure (formal and informal), and leadership, flow of authority, any other relevant department characteristics, and service effectiveness. What do social workers do in the agency or organization? How do they determine that what they do is effective? What is the relationship of the funding to the services that are delivered? What is the relationship of the agency to other parts of the social welfare institution? Students are encouraged to look at both the pros and cons of each department and identify any deficits to service and need for change. A proposal must accompany any identified areas of concern to include: the specific problem, sample budget for change (if necessary), time constraints, needed resources, contact people, and finally discuss how you would propose to obtain funding. You may conduct focus groups, interviews, and surveys as a way to collect additional data.
