What are two disadvantages of Cloud Computing?

Cloud Computing is the practice of using a network of remote servers hosted on the Internet to store, manage, and process data, rather than a local server or a personal computer.

The Public Cloud, storage of files and resources on servers available to the public over the internet, is used quite commonly. You are the public cloud with Drop Box here in our course. Many companies use a Private Cloud, where storage of files and resources are on an internal or proprietary network.

Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to interact with both data and applications on the web. Software applications like Application Programming Interface (API), allows software applications to interface with each other. This means that an application hosted on one server can send a request over the internet to a service running on another server to perform a task and then send its outcome.

Mashups, which combine data from multiple online sources into a new application, have become very popular because many Web 2.0 applications for social networking, photo and video sharing also provide free APIs to access their data.

Prepare a report approximately 1-2 pages long referencing the following points and questions on Cloud Computing, APIs and Mashups. You should use at least two outside resources (one of these two resources can be your textbook) when preparing your report in APA style. Be sure to include a cover page and references page.

What are two disadvantages of Cloud Computing?
Consider your place of employment or ECPI University: When would it be beneficial to use a Private Cloud instead of a Public Cloud?
Why do you think companies would allow other applications to access internal data for free by means of an API?
Provide at least one example of a company that provides free APIs.
Provide one example of a Mashup.
What sources were combined to create the Mashup?
