For the past two decades, there has been a growing concern about the impact of violent media on subsequent behavior of those watching. The ever-surmounting body of research suggests that the view of violence or playing of violent video games increases the probability of subsequent violence among participants. Less research has been conducted on other ways that view violence or playing violent video games may impact behavior. After reading the article, consider the following questions regarding experiment 1:
1. What are the variables in this study and how are they defined? (i.e., what are the IV and DV and how are they defined / measured?
2. How else could the researchers have operationally defined and measured these variables (in other words, think of a different way to define / measure the IV and DV.)
3. What might be some of the ethical concerns considered by the IRB. Evaluate these concerns based on the APA code of ethics for research.
4. What was/were they researchers hypothesis(es)?
5. What did the authors find?
6. Consider the experiment as a whole. What 2 or 3 things would you do to improve this study if you were wanting to replicate the constructs?
Write up your responses to these question in an essay format using APA 7th edition style to all aspects of the essay (i.e., a title page, a reference page, APA formatting of the page, and the use of appropriate in-text citations.
