I’m from Belgium ( born in Belgium),moved to NJ , stayed there 8 years and the moved to NC, am now 17, rising senior in college and have dual citizenship.
I’m trying to write ( unsuccessfully ) an essay about me having double nationality ( Belgian-US) and how that exposure to 2 different worlds, cultures, languages ( I speak French, Dutch and English) has made me open minded to all kinds of things like different foods, apparel, music,
the exposure in my 2 worlds where politics, language and cultures could not be more extreme , made me appreciative of differences
I’m inquisitive and accepting of things being different , it has made me an global citizen and out of the box thinker that might be useful for my future career as an engineer ( and later physician).
Moving 4 times in my childhood has also made me adaptive and flexible
I am not afraid of trial and error, make me put in more effort to succeed , I’m relentless ( love to cook). which is useful for engineering
not everything is black and white, lot of gray area
my identity is shaped by being exposed to a wide range of experiences and some very What are the different cultural aspects between Europe and US.
the essay will be my personal statement for the common app the applying to very competitive schools( read TOP 30 and some ivies)
I am definite more of a STEM kid , writing is not my forte(
