APA Format
You will submit a full draft for review by your peers and professor. This draft should be complete with title page, abstract, references etc. This will allow you to get feedback not only on the content of the paper, but also on any formatting or spelling issues you might have. All drafts (preliminary and final) will be submitted to Canvas and run through Turnitin.com for a plagiarism check.
A few things I want you to consider when working on this draft:
This is a FIRST draft not a ROUGH draft. This means this is the first attempt at the best paper you can write. Do not turn in a disorganized, unformatted, unsupported paper simply because this isn’t the final paper. You should treat this as if you were submitting this as your final paper.
Focus on organization. You should stick to the outline you created and support your ideas as you make them. A paper that wanders is hard to revise later on.
Cite, Cite, Cite. You should be sure if you write ANYTHING that isn’t your own ideas that you give credit to the author.
Proofread and then have someone else proofread. I will be giving copious comments on this draft. One tip that often helps is to read the paper out loud. This will help to find those awkward sentences that originally sounded great 🙂
Relax! I know this is a big assignment and probably the first time many of you have tried something like this. I have provided numerous resources and we have have been doing the steps along the way…time to just pull it all together.
Remember everything about this paper should be APA format. So it should start with a Title page and end with references and have all the right stuff in between. I would suggest that this first draft be somewhere in the 8-10 page range. (This does not include the Title, Abstract, or References Pages).
