The literature review should be written with the following in mind,
(around 2,500 words): You should critically engage with relevant policy and academic literature that you are building on or exploring. You should structure the chapter by themes that relate to each research question.
The research questions I have designed for the dissertation are the following and each of the themes explored in the literature review you write should relate to the themes of the questions.
To what extent does newcastle city councils planning department induce the particpiation of ethnic minority residents?
To what extent are the specific needs of ethnic minority citizens being met in the UK?
How can the planning system be reformed to ensure greater equity and inclusivity for ethnic minority residents?
How do local authorities and planning professionals understand and respond to issues of racial and ethnic diversity in the planning system?
How does Newcastle’s Local authority compare to other local authorites in the UK, in terms to faciliating the needs of ethnic minority residents?
I will have attached a file which contains a list of sources that HAVE to be used in accordance with the literature review that is to be written. use of these sources are mandatory, but please do add do use any additional sources you may find in relation to the subject, but please bare in mind that these sources have to be in relation to the British, more specifically the English Planning system as my dissertation topic is based on this.
In particular the document titled, “Diversity and Equality
in Planning” should be of particular use as it is a guidance for how planning in the UK should be carried out with diversity in mind.
for the research question titled, “To what extent are the specific needs of ethnic minority citizens being met”?, the document titled Urban planning for ethnic minority groups: A review of initiatives taken by Leicester city council should be of particular use, but additional information regarding this will be in most of the sources I have provided.
For the research question titled, “To what extent does newcastle city councils planning department induce the particpiation of ethnic minority residents?” please focus on the broader context of initiatives taken on a national level which can also be found across the sources I have provided as well as any additional sources you may find. the specification of Newcastle is not needed as I will be answering this question as a whole throughout the dissertation.
again for the research question titled, How does Newcastle’s Local authority compare to other local authorities in the UK, in terms to facilitating the needs of ethnic minority residents? please focus more thoroughly on initiatives taken by other local authorities as the all the questions relating directly to Newcastle are to be answered by the findings of my methodology, again the document titled, “Urban planning for ethnic minority groups: A
review of initiatives taken by Leicester city council” should come in handy for this question, in conjunction with the other sources.
Again please focus on the UK planning system for the context of the literature review and please make use of all of the sources I have provided and please structure the review by themes that relate to each research question that I have provided above.
