Theological Foundations Project

THEOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS PROJECT ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

OVERVIEW
In this course, you will complete a major research-study assignment in which you explore the biblical-theological foundations for ministry. The project will be completed in four (4) scaffolded steps with subsequent steps being dependent on the successful completion of earlier ones: Project Proposal, Annotated Bibliography, Outline, Final Paper/Project. All submissions must be fully compliant with current Turabian style and format. The project steps are described below.

INSTRUCTIONS
PROJECT PROPOSAL ASSIGNMENT
You are to propose a topic for study throughout the term exploring the biblical-theological foundations for ministry. Your proposal must include the following:

a preliminary thesis statement for your project (the thesis statement may be revised later as necessary as you get deeper into the research). [NB: The thesis statement is not a statement of purpose or intent but rather a single sentence that makes a specific claim that will be tested and defended in the paper.]
a preliminary bibliography of five (5) to ten (10) sources on your proposed topic, formatted in current Turabian style. [NB: These initial sources may be used in the final paper or discarded in favor of other sources, but you must demonstrate that you have surveyed the literature sufficiently to justify research on the proposed topic.]

The proposed topic must be relevant to applied ministry and practical theology; that is, it cannot just be historical or theoretical but must rather apply biblical-theological foundations of ministry explored in this course to specific contemporary Christian life and practice. Below are some examples of acceptable topics (framed as research questions). You may choose one of the topics below or propose one of your own, but if you do the latter, it must meet the above criteria and be approved by the instructor in advance of beginning your research.

Field of Practical Theology: How does one maintain balance in practical theology between being biblical and relevant?

Use Turabian format. Write from an evangelical conservative perspective.
